Judith Orloff, PhDAs a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Orloff blends her traditional medical skills with intuition to enhance patient care. A new edition of her book “Second Sight” (Three Rivers Press, 2010) chronicles her challenges and triumphs embracing her own intuition and integrating it into medicine. Emotional Freedom (Harmony Books, March, 2009) helps readers liberate themselves from negative emotions and develop hope, compassion, and courage. It is a roadmap for those who are stressed, discouraged, or overwhelmed–and for those who are in a good emotional place but want to feel better. As Dr. Orloff shows, each day presents opportunities for us to be heroes in our own lives: to turn away from negativity, react constructively, and seize command of any situation. Her other bestsellers include Positive Energy, Guide to Intuitive Healing, and Second Sight, a trilogy of books exploring new breakthroughs in intuition, energy, and how to combat an epidemic of exhaustion overtaking our world. Positive Energy is a national and Los Angeles Times bestseller which has been translated into 24 languages.

This was a great interview. I enjoyed hearing it. Dr. Judith has a practical approach to tuning into the inner Self which I had heard before, but not the way she described it…she takes away the mystery that so many others put on intuition. Ruth Ann really drew out practical techniques which Dr. Judith then expanded on and gave richness to. As we move through our journey it is helpful to hear someone describe in a practical way what we are experiencing and be able to keep our power instead of giving it to others for answers. Use what you feel as a guide to do what is right for you — that’s sage advice.

Comment from my perspective: Ruth your very first poem about the “rain playing its gentle drum” was written at 8 yrs old sitting at the dining table on Ferry Rd. with your brother and me. It was natural as we always played with words and rhymes and that first poem came on a rainy day as we continued the practice. It was the first, but not the last of an amazing body of work. I plan to read some for a read aloud assignment for Toastmasters in the next month or so. We worked with language also through stories often taking a familiar one like Goldilocks and sending her on other adventures. Your Dad also regularly read to you and added to your love of words and stories.
