What is a script and what does it mean to Script your Success?
Scripts are stories we tell ourself and others. And by tell, I mean our verbal and non verbal conversations with ourself and others direct our stories/thoughts, actions and lives. Think of your story being the director of your stage called life. Your script tells you how to present yourself to others, how to feel and what actions to take. Your script even dictates how you are directing others to interact with you. Often our scripts run on an unconscious level, determining what kind of mate you’ll attract, who your character or self will work with in business, how easy it is to maintain health and so on. It’s really our body language and our emotions that process our stories often on unconscious levels.
Offer examples of scripts and how they work.
People may have infinite possibilities for stories that run our lives. “Scripts for romance”, “scripts for money”, “scripts for achievement”, “scripts for clients”. “scripts for family members”. Often times those stories or scripts exist unconsciously without us paying attention to them. We wonder why the same so called “new” circumstances, challenges or types of people that press our buttons keep “appearing” in our lives. When my clients write a new script they are instructed to put down what they want in the writing style of an entertaining story or fairytale in third person as if they are already living fully with the career, romance, adventure, house, car, life purpose they intend to have. The million dollar key or solution to this scripting process is only write what you want, not what you don’t. Write it in third person as it happens perfectly in your mind and leave out any stories of struggle or waiting to achieve your desired experience. Results are the quickest when clients write the story in third person.
Why?
Because, the reason people have trouble getting what you want to happen with prayer, meditation and goal setting is your internal critic says, “that’s not me yet.” “that’s impossible” “you’re fooling yourself” “that’ll never work”. However if you script a story that is based on a character that has all your great qualities and none of your self limiting stories and is fully living the life you choose your story flows when you read it and the manifestation process is activated. The trick is to write the story in past tense and third person. Now when you read the story to yourself your internal voice is saying, “I like this story.” “This story feels good when I visit it.” “I really like this person I’m reading on the page.”
What’s the shift, miracle, (that occurs outside your perceived reality)?
You start consciously noticing you are having conversations that match the imagined ones you wrote in your script. Unlike most mental meditations you have a written record of where you are putting your focus so when things show up you can’t talk yourself out of it as easily or write it off as a coincidence or fluke. The sooner you begin to relax and trust the power of your awareness to now pay attention to the experience you want the quicker your new story or script will be an account of your life.
Back to the process…. how do I write my script?
I suggest you first write your story in as many detailed paragraphs as “your dream come true” story requires to fully describe the experience you intend to have. Then you are advised to write these goals or desired daily experiences in one sentence headlines such as one of my personal scripts for success, “Founder Offers a Proven System that Acts as a Conscious Manifestation Tool to Help Clients Get Lazar Focus on Clarifying and Monitoring Specific Measurable Goals Every Step of the Way.”
Ruth, you wrote your script in present tense?
Good point. I must have quieted the inner critic because I don’t get any back talk or shakiness or disbelief in my voice when I read or say it. If you do, rewrite and reread it over until it flows off your tongue.
You have your Success Script. Now what?
That’s where the fun begins! Get out your catcher’s mitt… Do yourself a favor and carry this script around with you in your purse or wallet and read it often. Not to fix anything but with the intention of feeling good every time you read it! Treat it like a daily meditation five or more times a day at first until you can recall every detail, feeling and experience of your story. This is the quickest way my clients have been able to abandon their old story and step into their new one.
A great example is your client Mike.
Met My Soul Mate Just Like the Script Said
“Earlier this year, I decided to contact Ruth to try something different. I was divorced 3 years ago and was having no luck meeting someone new. I had tried many of the internet dating sites, blind dates and matchmakers. No matter what I tried, I was just not meeting the right person. I have to say up front, that I am an Electrical Engineer and Ruth’s work does not fit into my logical way of thinking. I decided to try scripting anyway, because I had nothing to lose.
At first, Ruth helped me make a list of what was important to me. Next, slowly but surely, Ruth helped me envision my perfect relationship. After developing many scripts that described who I was looking for and the perfect scenario for living the rest of my life, Ruth suggested that I boiled it all down to a few sentences. I took those sentences and made a little pocket reminder with those words. Ruth asked me to read these words many times per day every day of the week. At first I felt silly doing that, but it became a daily routine for me. My work with Ruth concluded over six months ago, but I continued to read those words. Finally, I started to live those magical words and just one month ago they came true exactly as they were authored six months ago. I met my soul mate just like the script said and she is everything I have been looking for. The most amazing part is that she just showed up in my life with no effort on my part. I have no doubt that reading this script over and over again put me in the right place spiritually and physically for me to meet my soul mate. I can’t thank you enough Ruth.” -Michael Cristofalo, Electrical Engineer
How do you feel about taking on skeptical clients?
To date they are my most rewarding clients because they get to bask in the achievement of a proven, duplicable system that works every time! Plus I come from a whole line of male engineers including my husband, his father, and brother, my Dad, both grandfathers and great grand dad are all engineers. By the way what’s the difference between an Engineer who is an introvert or an extrovert?
What?
An introverted engineer when speaking to you looks at the floor and an extrovert looks at your shoes!
Ha! That’s a very bold claim. When has Scripting for Success NOT worked?
Every specific measurable goal that my clients have set day one of our coaching sessions have been realized to as good or better than they described in their script. This process has worked for all my paying clients that made a three month commitment to train themselves to consciously choose what they wanted and wrote it down all in positive language in the format I teach in my training.
There must be other things your clients do to aid the process?
It’s true some clients are so stuck in their negative stories I do offer other mind, body, spirit, shifting exercise where I give them one of many “act as if” assignment. This includes test drive a Jag so you can have the experience of driving it. The next week my new client on the second week was driving a Jag… something she never thought she could do until she achieved specific sales goals. One man bumped into two women who matched his soulmate written in his script 14 days later and he said Ruth, now what I do? I told him to make his script even more specific. Many years later he’s still with his same dream woman.
What’s your best case study?
Hands down it’s my husband who I used the scripting process to meet him on April 1, 2004 one night my friend Janelle dragged me out to a bar. I knew he was a match to the “Meet My Life Partner” script I wrote with 30 qualities I desired within two weeks of meeting him, we knew! He has his own IT business and when ever he hits a snag or miscommunication with a client or wants to generate more money for a new project or to partner with the right subcontractor to fill a specifici client need while we take off on a 10 day vacation to Ireland, Wales, Mexico or something like that, he sits down and writes his script, discribing with great clarity his specific measurable goal.We take turns calling each other on the mat and when we are going through another growth spurt or updated vision of our businesses I often tell Jason, “Who sent you?” because he is awesome at this!
How did this process come about?
It was a gradual evolution with many great teachers to stir the pot. In my twenties I took stock of my fictional writing, mostly the plays and short stories I wrote in my journal growing up. I was constantly getting inspired by conversations that had deeper meanings, symbology, themes and I perceived the people around me as these archetypal characters such as the fool, magician, lover, adventurer, sage… I can pin point specific eras of my life based on what stories I was crafting at the time. For example my story about best friends in high school, Julie, the marine biologist and August the hangliding enthusiast was a screenplay that was birthed in nineth grade English. A few years later I noticed I was living both of these character’s unbelievable experience. At age 19 my world traveling grandmother unexpectedly treated me to a cruise of a life time to 15 countries in 20 days in the spice islands of Indonesia. As I looked out into the black, crystal clear starry sky over the vast ocean I had the overwelming feeling I was Julie on a a marine expedition. By the way the travel outfit is called Special Expeditions.
And when did you know you were living your character August’s story?
It had to be when I was hang gliding. The first time was flying tandem with an instuctor 1500ft, gliding over the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I was in a nylon, camping gear type zipped up hanging cacoon with my feet pushed up against a chord that resembled back pack straps. I had two large polls in a triangular shape that came to a point over my head. The instructor invited me to grab the two polls and pull myself to the bar on the right to spiral right and pull myself evenly towards both polls to fly straight. It was one of the most incredible experience of my life talking normally and gliding over farm lands, the sun lit bay to the left and the ocean beyond that! Next time I do it I want to go 2000 feet and stay up more than 20 minutes!
You also hang glided on the dunes the Wright brothers flew and in Albuquerque New Mexico!
Every time it was a very different experience. Kitty Hawk sand dunes were running on sand strapped to a glidder and quick 20 feet in the air and quickly pulled down with a tether the teachers controlled. The foot hills of New Mexico offered much more time as I flew solo little hops at the bottom of a steep hill. Unlike the sand dunnes I took my time learning from a father son outfit and learned how to assemble the glider and proudly landed on my feet each time, which was a good thing amung the sharp rocks and rough desert shrubbery!
Why are you so passionate about co-authored projects?
To answer this question, it’s probably best that you think of my role as a community builder and co-authored project leader with the same drive as the hero in the Stone Soup story where the hungry man created a feast with his pot of stones by inviting the villagers to contribute ingredients to his feast. With this approach I come to the project with the same optimism and wonder as profound contributions are made simply by people coming together to share experiences around a common theme. I’ve had the pleasure of directing and co-authoring a book, play, a movie and online community. I love the challenge of a new media I’ve never used with a group and it brings such talent to the surface as I committed to them a specific product by a certain date. With each new project and medium I learn on my feet. I Something bigger than me, often an event in the news or topic that brings much discussion sets off a spark and when things work out it’s when I’ve said, “Let’s do it! This is the topic and the cast/release party is this date. Who’s with me!” By the way, Richard Branson who created the Virgin Brand proclaims if you are successful in one business you can always bring talent advisors and team players around you to be successful in the next. Hey, he’s all about the power of collaberation. Just note his partnership with Google to set up a colony on ars in the works!
You’ve co-authored books, produced plays and movies. What came first?
My first co-authored collaboration was in 2003 when I had just ended an eight year relationship and living on my own at 27 for the first time. I had just quit a senior home care job right before my client (87) died and thought I wanted to grow my massage practice. Yet I was lead in a very new direction. While living in the one bedroom with a grump batchlor my parent’s age, and only a month’s living expenses in the bank account I listened for about a month to the original Chicken Soup for the Soul cassette tape over and over. Then I got upset when Marianne Williamson’s advertisement for her latest book Everyday Grace was emailed to me. I told my mom over the phone in a huff, “the best selling author wrote the introduction to my book I hadn’t written yet.” Mom said matter-of-factly, “You can write your own book, Dear.” “How?” I worried out loud. “Get other’s to help you!”
Has collaborating with others become your formula for success?
Yes! With no prior experience managing a book publishing experience within a month I had inspired 22 co-authors to pay me to publish their essay documenting with essays, art, poetry, meditations and song lyrics how they followed their inner calling and passion, and three months later Abundant Magical Lives; Insights for Passionate People was available online after I taught myself how to edit submissions and build a website and the group celebrated with a party! A week after that I got to meet face to face with my muse as I showed Marianne Williamson the book on May 9, 2003 during her book signing!
What lead you to create Scripting for Success a company that teaches goal setting and achievement?
During this process, I had an epiphany! I most enjoyed the essays written by the teachers and professional coaches. I began to study people’s stories that limited them and how commitments to a group of people made seemingly impossible goals such as publishing a powerful collection of stories in less than three months a miraculous reality especially for a person with no prior experience or conceivable financial resources like I had when I first began. I had such a high from achieving my life long dream of being an inspirational writer like the Chicken Soup for the Soul series I wanted to help others fulfil their goals in record time.
That’s when you dove into intensive studies on coaching, book publishing and marketing?
Exactly!
In your experience scripting your success and marketing go hand in hand. How?
It starts with selling to yourself through scripting the success story you want in all areas of your life. (You know, your ideal day that you would be happy living over and over again.) They say birds of a feather flock together. Now with this new story of yourself you are ready to hang out and serve people who resonate with your shared passion and expertise. It’s just that you are marketing to the “old you” who struggled to get what you now help them recieve or achieve.
Tell me about you’re first play you produced which took place at the Philly Fringe Festival in 2007.
When the announcement for the Philly Fringe Festival came around in April of 2007 my husband Jason challenged me to cross another thing off my bucket list. That’s when I rallied massage clients and friends together to do 11 show at a massage school in center city Philadelphia called “The Table” a comedy about massage. Believe me I had plenty of material of interesting clients since I began my practice in 1994 and we raised hundreds of dollars for a inner city charity in Camden that offered hostisic counseling, yoga, massage, accupunture to low income residents. We also got written up in a couple papers and garnished the attention of an award winning playwright for future projects.
You’re clients range from a game day sports writer endorsed by the Phillies and a national charity?
Yes, before the sports writer which he hired me to teach him how to create his own publishing company, I had co-authored another book You Can’t Get It ‘Cause You’ve Already Got It! with a world-class figure skater named Stash Serafin and we wrote about my goal setting and achievement writing process called “scripting” and how Stash Serafin used similar tools to skate and teach Olympic athletes despite being blind since birth! I’ve also been hired by a national organization called Twilight Wish who parelles my work by honoring seniors and making dreams come true, to publish books for their senior clients. I also had the privledge of advising them on their latest book Twilight Moments which has been given a nod by Oprah’s team and written up in the AARP.
When did you attract such talent for the movie you directed and produced?
At the end of 2009 I was inspired by the upcoming nobel peace awards and wanted to organize a group of people to weigh in on how they create peace in their own life. The project attracted a Emmy Award winning documentary film maker, two time Oprah guest, recipient of the JFK journalism award, Twilight Wish Foundation who I mentioned above and a slew of talented friends in the community. I also had the privledge of interviewing some pretty amazing peace makers for our Live Your Peace community.
Who are your clients exactly?
I work with people just like you in private practice and other independent professionals who are really good at what they do; the teach the same thing over and over again and solve specific client problems and want to share process and results, however, have never been taught exactly how create products that attract media attention, build an audience around their work, expertise and passion. I teach them to create high quality information products, services and communities quickly to have an ongoing supply of joint venture partners and clients and multiple streams of income and marketing resources to show case their work.

What’s the biggest challenge your new clients have setting up a group project/collaboration?
There are a couple things. One is the Scripting for Success System takes into account everything you need to put yourself in producer/director/scriptwriter mode. It’s your call to action to conceive a project, gather contributors, build a community of support, use free and affordable marketing and media resources. The biggest challenge is to pick one topic to build a film, workshop, book, movie, concert or event around, but this is the key to reusing the content from your group collaborations to create your next products or marketing tools and using the content over and over again for profitable products and services. Being the problem solver in one area in this niche topic is key and the difference between being scattered and focused on achieving your project goals. Since I’ve worked with so many high achievers I bring to the table a very complete process that can help you create group projects that have lasting impacts on your credibility, profits, ongoing profitable partnerships… . What my current and former clients have found exceedingly helpful is the tools I provide for technical support, accountability to the project and group, group management tools, facilitating ideas and contributions and how to tie it in with relevant events in the media to attract more media coverage and savvy talent and expertise.
What type of tools and support do you offer and what is expected of me?
Some companies make publishing and producing high value, high quality information products and media as this impossible challenge. I’m here to tell you there are specific online recording tools, free media sources, distribution channels that I use over and over again for each client and it’s my privlege to point you in the right direction. Remember Occam’s Razor: “The simplest solution is probably the best.” Find the basic tools you need to create a professional experience your clients will be talking about for years and a product you can share with your audience in muliple ways. This Scripting for Success workshops, products and programs were created for people who are absolutely excited and deadly serious about achieving your production, marketing and community building goals. You don’t have to worry about how you are going to afford creating your products because the sale tools and resources I provide inspire the ideal group of participants to contribute, fund and promote your products as little as a month after you announce your project.
Being a high achieving go-getter myself, I’m known to work best with other high achieving go-getters who are super-ready to get going and just want to know exactly what steps to take to get clients.
Consider what you’ll do with me to be an action learning course. You will be expected to take serious and consistent action. No excuses anymore, just a very different way of thinking and full support while you achieve this incredibly exciting goal: co-creating your products and services with your receptive, actively involved community!
For what type of professional is this program NOT going to work?
Please know I’m very selective in who I work with and I cherry-pick my clients, choosing to (gently) turn away people who aren’t suited for my programs and won’t get the results for which they would have signed up for. (It wouldn’t be fair to them.)
The Scripting for Success programs are NOT for those who have no money coming in and are absolutely, financially desperate, at least not right away. It’s been my experience that people in financial crisis do not trust the recommendations I give them and do not do the work (probably because they spend so much time worrying about where they are going to get next month’s rent check or mortgage payment.)
If you fall within this category, it’s absolutely OK. We’ve all been in times of financial crisis at one point or another. Do yourself (3) favors:
-
Get some money coming in with a full-time or part-time job at the very least, and then call me. This will take the edge off and provide a little more peace of mind. Mostly, it will de-clutter your mind enough to focus on your Scripting for Success assignments and the BIG picture.
-
Sign up for the free Scripting for Success tools over email (Click here to subscribe.) The free information will get you started towards your goals until you’re ready to work with me one-on-one.
- Make a point to listen to the free teleclass seminars at the bottom of the ezine. These seminar downloads will give you a LOT of things to think about.
Doing these three things will really help you get primed for our work. When you’re ready, call me and we’ll get you started. (I’m in no rush and will be here when you need me.)
Another type of person I won’t work with (without exception) is the whiner or the chronic skeptic, as well as individuals who consistently make excuses for not getting their assignments done or challenging every aspect of the program. If you are one of these people, I gently and respectfully ask that you not call and I hope you understand why. We’ll probably just not work well together and I wouldn’t want you to waste your time or money. Is that fair?
